Description
Eastland Green (75 days) A green seeded baby lima bean developed by Doctors Thomas and Fisher, USDA. A strong, sturdy plant of 20 inches supports numerous pods of 3-4 inches long. Eastland is resistant to downy mildew strains A, B, C and D.
Plant after danger of frost and when soil is warm. Seeds tend to decay in cold, wet soils. Select a loose well drained soil with a pH 5.5 to 6.5. Fertilize with a quality garden fertilizer. Mix fertilizer thoroughly with the soil. Plant seed 11⁄2 inches deep, 4 to 6 inches apart in rows 3 feet apart. Sidedress with Nitrate of Soda when first blooms appear. Additional sidedressings will prolong bearing season. 50 lbs. of small seeded varieties, or 75 lbs. of large seeded varieties per acre. 11⁄2 lbs. of small or 1 lb. of large seeded kinds will plant 100 ft. of row.
